HUSTLE EATS: TOAST (Mke, WI
For the next installment of HUSTLE EATS series; where I give my best impression being a foodie blogger. Where I am able to share some of my favorite experiences centered around the universal centerpiece for feel goods and understanding; FOOD. While this segment will release just after the Thanksgiving holiday; I’d rather not talk about the many ways in which you can repurpose your holiday leftovers, I actually think it’d be best to stay out of the way of your own kitchens and spend some time at someone else’s table in the days following the biggest food consumption day in the country. What I’ve recently added into my post Holiday routine is stepping out and enjoying a nice meal during the best food hour: Brunch. It’s literally perfect; don’t have to wake up super early and if you are on that type of time, no one will judge you for having an adult beverage.
Be my plus one as I take you to Milwaukee’s riveting Walker’s Point neighborhood to travel one of my favorite breakfast / brunch spots: TOAST. The hippy themed venue immediately grabs your attention with its funky imagery and psychedelic aesthetic; everything from the staff uniforms, to the groovy walls paired with vinyl records from a more ‘groovy’ time. Before ordering we enjoyed a Peach Blossom Rishi Tea and Honey Lavender+ Oak Milk Latte to hold us over until the food ‘trip’ began.
BOWL OF MINIS - Warm Mini Donuts - Cinnamon Sugar - Caramel Apple Cider Sauce
For starters; the BOWL OF MINIS, hot, fresh donuts powdered with cinnamon sugar paired with a caramel apple cider sauce. I’m no Homer Simpson but I literally had to put them away because I didn’t want to get too full simply from our morning appetizers. Perfect blend of sweet to warm dough; definitely recommend. Would be a perfect dessert as well.
THE BRUNCH BURGER - Grass Fed Patty - Local Canadian Bacon - Bacon - Smoked Gouda - Cheese Sauce - Breakfast Potatoes
Easily could be the headliner at any burger joint in town. The patty felt healthy if that makes any sense; I didn’t feel weighed down after eating which is always a plus for me dealing with red meat now a days. I can definitely appreciate a creative spin to the cheeseburger; pairing both Canadian bacon and ‘regular’ bacon was a combo I didn’t know I needed in my life. Smoked Gouda > American cheese on a burger any day of the week; the cheese sauce made it a bit messy but it wasn’t a first date or anything so no need to deduct points for that. I went with the breakfast potatoes as my potato of choice; did not disappoint; a bit on the spicy side as it was a bit heavy handed on the seasoning but still an elite plate in my book.
SPECIALTY OMELET - POLLO PICANTE OMELET - Shredded Chicken / Chedder Cheese / Coquito Cheese
And for the lady… The Specialty Omelet, something that is not frequently on the menu so I honestly have no idea what was inside. I loved the layout / spread of this dish. In my age I appreciate a good plating and this looked great. All I honestly remember is there was like an avocado sauce spread on top of the omelet. Chicken, some spicy things. Our waiter was A-1, the way he introduced it almost made me order it as well and I’m not an avocado guy one bit. Overall excellent staff, amazing service, it was a bit packed but we didn’t feel rushed once inside.
